I hope you had a great holiday break and are ready for another productive semester.
I write to introduce myself as your new interim chancellor. You can learn more about me at chancellor.siu.edu.
I’m honored to return to SIU to help keep it moving forward. My motto as chancellor is that "at SIU, it’s personal." This means that our job is to make sure that you have the personalized support and opportunities you need to be successful. It also means that each of us – as students, faculty or staff members -- should reach out to and and respect all members of the Saluki community.
Finally, it means that your voice is important. You will see me at meetings and events, and you have access to my direct email: jmdunn@siu.edu. While I may not have the answer to all your needs or questions, I will do my best to respond or refer your email to the appropriate office.
This semester, you’ll get to be here for the launch of the university’s year-long celebration of its 150th anniversary. We have a lot of student-focused events starting on our Day of Giving March 6. Stay tuned for more information!
I am proud to be a Saluki and I look forward to serving you! As you see me out and about on campus, please do not hesitate to say hello and, if you like, take a selfie. After all, "at SIU, it’s personal!"
